"Fashioned" from Paper

Barry Brown is an award winning fashion designer and paper carver. His intricate paper designs have won numerous awards, such as First Place in the Art Director's Club's Paper Fashion Show
in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 and was featured in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 fashion showcases.

This design was sponsored by the French American Chamber of Commerce and Mohawk Papers, and based on the ultramodern  designs of André Courrèges.
The glasses, bracelet, purse, and functional zipper are all made entirely of paper.

2017 Denver Paper Fashion Show "Heritage at its Legendary Moment."
Celebrating the Strathmore and Mohawk Paper brands, Barry Brown created a 96% paper Mohawk wedding dress with a
​fine "thistle lace" of paper covering the entire surface.
Modeling the "Heritage" dress is Sarah Schriver.

2014 Award - Denver Paper Fashion Show "Spirit of the Golden Wind" and "Gleaming Crate of Thunder"
Barry Brown utilized the ornate, rococo design to create soft golden winds to represent both eighteenth century Europe
​and the spirit of Amelia Earhart.
​His second design, "Gleaming Crate of Thunder," evoked the spirit of adventure, borne of steel wings.

​The Art Director's Club of Denver's 2013 First Place Winner "Gloria Deo."
Barry Brown worked solo for over 300 hours to bring this award winning design to life based on a design by Erte.
Nearly 10,000 dots of paper were used to create the fabric-like, flowing quality.
Modeling the "Gloria Deo" dress is Sarah Schriver.

​The Art Director's Club of Denver's 2012 First Place Winner "The Butterfly Effect."
This design, modeled by Katie Hohen, was created by our team "Pulp Function." The team spent 150 hours
​hand-treating this paper to make it more fabric-like. 

​The Art Director's Club of Denver's 2011 First Place Winner "Caged Beauty."
Barry Brown joined Elizabeth Barnes, Stephanie Ingraham, and Robyn Winters to create the award winning design
​based on Erte's work, with a modern twist.
